COVID-19: Resources & Updates for healthcare hospitality professionals

This is an emerging and rapidly evolving situation - and the CDC website is the best resource for specific information guidance, and instructions for infection control and prevention. 
Current risk assessment:
  • For the general American public, who are unlikely to be exposed to this virus at this time, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low.
  • People in communities where ongoing community spread with the virus that causes COVID-19 has been reported are at elevated though still relatively low risk of exposure.
  • Healthcare workers caring for patients with COVID-19 are at elevated risk of exposure.
  • Close contacts of persons with COVID-19 also are at elevated risk of exposure.
  • Travelers returning from affected international locations where community spread is occurring also are at elevated risk of exposure.

CDC has developed guidance to help in the risk assessment and management of people with potential exposures to COVID-19.

Steps your organization can take:

Because of the continuous developments regarding this virus, HHN recommends that you contact your hospital partner(s) and the state Department of Health and Human Services for specific guidelines and advice. Request that you be added to their communication list for up to date information they release on COVID-19. 
Practical preparations for your organization may include:
  • Routine cleaning and disinfection procedures are appropriate for SARS-CoV-2 in healthcare settings, including those patient-care areas in which aerosol-generating procedures are performed.
  • Companies should be cross-training people, in case any essential employees become infected. This can include important facility information, master keys, instructions how to operate basic systems, etc. 
  • Have an emergency plan in place, in case your house / facility needs to suspend services.
  • Event cancellations (see link below for legal strategies when cancelling an event)
